چکیده

This paper proposes an optimization procedure of a spatial filter in a water level detection system. The water level of running water of a river is detected by applying a temporal filter and a spatial filter to a video of various river scenery. Previously, we have proposed an algorithm based on “addition” of frames and “horizontal” detection of edges. We have confirmed its superiority to the existing method based on “subtraction” of frames and “vertical” detection of edges, especially when the scenery contains rain or snow drops. However, its detection performance is limited since coefficients of the edge detector are fixed. In this paper, we propose a design method of a spatial filter as a general form of the edge detector so that the system becomes flexible to change of the river 2 scenery. Optimization criterion is proposed and the filter coefficients are determined for each of the river scenery. It is confirmed that the proposed method reduces the standard deviation of the detection error by 4.4 [%] and 7.6 [%] comparing to the conventional horizontal Prewitt filter and the horizontal Sobel filter, respectively.

Optimum Filter Design for Water Level Detection

Abstract This report proposes a design method of a digital filter to detect running water region in video signal. As a result of applying this filter, the water level of a river is automatically detected as a boundary between the land region and the water region. Conventional approaches have used the edge detector "vertically" to extract a horizontal line as running water surface. The frame "su...

Design of FIR Filter for Water Level Detection

This paper proposes a new design of spatial FIR filter to automatically detect water level from a video signal of various river surroundings. A new approach in this report applies "addition" of frames and a "horizontal" edge detector to distinguish water region and land region. Variance of each line of a filtered video frame is used as a feature value. The water level is recognized as a boundar...

Detection of Coastline Using Satellite Image-Processing Technique

Extended abstract 1- Introduction  Coasts maintain their natural sustainability without human intervention and in spite of short-term changes, we are ultimately confronted with a coastal healthy environment, i.e. natural, rocky beaches, sandy beaches and so on. Today's use of remote sensing in most natural sciences is widespread. Due to the fact that fieldwork is costly and time-consuming, ...

3D Gabor Based Hyperspectral Anomaly Detection

Hyperspectral anomaly detection is one of the main challenging topics in both military and civilian fields. The spectral information contained in a hyperspectral cube provides a high ability for anomaly detection. In addition, the costly spatial information of adjacent pixels such as texture can also improve the discrimination between anomalous targets and background. Most studies miss the wort...

Comparison of Three Methods of Pour Plate (PP) ، Most Probable Number (MPN)and Membrane Filter (MF) for Detection of Escherichia coliin Well Water Samples in Tehran's Parks in 2010

Abstract Background and objectives: Water-born diseases are typically caused by pathogens transmitted by orofecal way. Because it is no practical and no economical and also it is time-consuming to find water-born pathogens in water reservoirs, the laboratory studies are performed on the basis of indicator microorganism. Escherichia coli is considered as the most important indicator bacterium fo...
